Peter Illingworth FNAEAPeter was raised in Northamptonshire, educated at Wellingborough School. He spent his first three years as a student at Shirecliffe College in Sheffield, reading Estate Management and Valuation. Peter is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents and has over 40 years of estate agency experience, with a passion for and an intimate understanding of the buying and selling of property in the countryside. Between 1985 and 1988 Peter worked for the then Wells Cundall’s offices in Kirkbymoorside and Thirsk, with the Kirkbymoorside Office being proclaimed Office of the year within the 17 branches.
Peter moved to Carter Jonas in 1988, where he was their country house and commercial manager for Ryedale and the East Coast. Peter then took the Kirkbymoorside office over from Carter Jonas in 1990. Just before taking over, he was presented with the Press Release prize for generating the most press coverage within the company for that year. In 1992 he was a semi-finalist on Yorkshire TV’s Enterprize competition. He has a forward thinking approach to his business coupled with an in-depth understanding and knowledge of Ryedale, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds, with an office opportunely placed in Kirkbymoorside and in London.
Peter’s interests include Rotary and has been a member of Pickering and District Rotary Club for almost 40 years and is a past president. He is a long serving member of Helmsley Lodge, been Master twice and has been a member there for over 35 years. He is the Vice Chairman to Marton and Normanby Village Hall Committee. When there is the opportunity, he enjoys skiing, particularly with his sons.
Peter has been married to Christine for over 38 years, and she is a highly valued partner in the family business.
Peter and Christine met through Young Farmers at a raft race at Cundall. Christine was with Easingwold Young Farmers and Peter with Helmsley.
He has two sons Alex and William, Alex works locally with Rack Systems and is a graduate in Website Design and IT. William is a Chartered Surveyor working in the City of London, as a business rating surveyor and is a director with Savills.
