The reason for these low levels is partly because of the unremitting uncertainty over Brexit, but it is also caused by prevarication on the part of home owners. Those people who would like to move, but don’t have to move, frequently delay putting their houses onto the market until they find the right property to buy. This is not always a good idea. “Waiting for the right home without having a buyer in the wings can mean disappointment,” Peter cautions. “Nowadays many competing buyers are in a position to purchase immediately without a related sale.”
Peter says that preparation is key. “Appoint your chosen estate agent and get everything ready to launch as soon as you find your next property,” he advises. “Better still, instruct your agent to start marketing your house ‘quietly’ on a low key basis so you can start to generate some interest.”
